Jayam Ravi divorces wife Aarti Ravi after 15 years of marriage; says, “This decision wasn’t made in haste”

Tamil actor Jayam Ravi has announced his divorce from Aarti Ravi – the daughter of noted television producer Sujatha Vijayakumar after 15 years of marriage. After months of speculation – and Aarti deleting their pictures together, the actor confirmed the news on Monday. Read on to know the reason behind their split.

Earlier today Jayam Ravi took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and announced his separation from his wife Aarti Ravi. The actor shared two notes talking about their divorce by captioning it, “Grateful for your love and understanding. ” The note – one in English and the other in Tamil read, “After much thought and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved.”

Requesting for privacy during this time and asking fans not to make assumptions about his marriage, the actor added, “In light of this, I hereby kindly request all of you to respect our privacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you to refrain from making any assumptions, rumours or allegations in this regard and let the matter remain private.”

In June this year, a few days after their 15th wedding anniversary, Aarti deleted all her photos with Ravi on her Instagram account. Jayam Ravi and Aarti Ravi – who tied the knot in 2009, are parents to two sons.
